Become Elvis - A Celebrity Icon
Celebrity costumes have always been popular, and typically, the more iconic the celebrity, the more in demand that costume will be. Take Elvis as a prime example of this. You can find “Elvis” on the streets of Vegas, on the sidewalks by the Kodak Theater in Hollywood; he even does weddings. The thing about this character is that he’s an icon, and that’s what makes the imagery of him so compelling. Everybody knows who he is, and everybody knows something about his life.
There’s a lot to be said about this kind of phenomenon, from an academic perspective. Sociologically, you might consider these costumes to be a kind of homage of sorts. Fans and people that loved his music might pick up an Elvis suit in order to dedicate a moment to the man and all that he represents.
And yet others that don’t really find him all that appealing may use his costume for unintended things. Surely you can think of a few movies that’s invoked a plastic mask of the man during some cliche of a bank heist. These costumes really range in terms of the quality and the level of intricacy that’s involved and intertwined throughout the suit. Some are more detailed than others, and some involve more expensive materials than others. And of course, there are the various phases of Elvis’s life that are represented as well. “Young Elvis” invokes a costume in which he was dressed in relatively ordinary clothes. The jacket, the dark, short pants, the dancing shoes… And of course, there’s “70's older Elvis,” with his flamboyant get-up with the cape, the glitter, the sunglasses…
It really just depends on which of those reincarnations you’d like to pick up. All of them are available in various sizes and for all of the genders. Women might find an Old Elvis outfit, built to fit the body shape of a woman. This appealing for anybody that needs an outfit for Halloween or Mardi Gras. They are available in a wide range of colors and styles and in terms of price as well. Obviously the more intricate costumes will cost more. Sometimes people purchase the suits for parties or specific occasions. In those instances, you’d want to take some time to think about how you’d feel in the costume during the event, and it’d behoove you to try to imagine any snags that may occur during the program (if there is one).
